Mattress and Furniture Recycling Process
All mattresses and items of furniture that are collected or received at our facilities are logged in on delivery and a Waste Acceptance Note is completed to start the audit trail.
Items are deconstructed manually using specialist cutting tools which allow the materials to be segregated accurately for onward processing.
All textiles following segregation are subjected to our sanitisation process as detailed by our code of practice for conversion of waste to product in accordance with BS1425 1991.
Textile products are then sold into UK manufacturing creating a recycled stream of products into a variety of industries. No products are exported so the carbon footprint of the recycling process is minimal.
Steel is sent to steel mills for re-processing.
Foam is sanitised and sent for granulation into padding and underlay products.
Clean wood is sent to be re-processed for chipboard and contaminated wood and contaminated textiles are used for energy from waste.
Our recycling process not only puts product back into UK manufacturing with minimal carbon footprint but also generates sustainable employment for a variety of skilled and non-skilled people.
